Spiral
The freehand drawn "spiral" with its irregular condensations and extensions irritates the usual perception of space. The graphic wall piece was created for...
...the "ausgezeichnet" exhibition at KunstWerk Köln. The corridor situation was chosen for the spatial design, which, at around 35 metres long, has an extremely clear and strong perspective and thus an exciting pull effect. The basic artistic idea is based on changing the spatial perception through a large-scale mural. The elongated drawing accompanying the corridor is drawn on the entire continuous wall surface as a freehand spiral line. It remains visible between the coloured painting as a free white line and is kept powerful by the orange. The irregular condensations and extensions of the looping movements - sometimes narrower, sometimes wider - distort the spatial perspective perception and dissolve the usual clear spatial alignment. The room seems to curve, seems to bend. The perspective in the corridor can only be determined by observing and walking through the actual spatial situation. The visitor pauses, moves on and is thrown off her stride by the changing rhythm of the lively wall work. Realisation 2005
