Everything flows
Spatial temporary installation, exhibition contribution with surrounding red frieze. Paths run through our lives, constantly, always - everything flows. So do the paths through Nuremberg. When you enter the gallery, the path continues from the outside into the gallery. Here are...
...the lines of the paths continue along the wall. The physical movement into the room is replaced by the movement of the gaze along the flowing, painted movements on the walls. A red, horizontal wall frieze connects windows, openings, projections and angles in the room. Lines are left open to reveal the white wall. The frieze is also continued on the gallery windows with a red film. The flow of lines in the room is thus continuous and at the same time the view into the gallery changes. The lines weave under and over each other, appear to be intertwined, take on a spatial dimension and yet run freely along the wall. ‘Violent and powerful (the lines) spill through the space, unimpressed by windows, corners or unnecessary canvas, they surround the viewer. A red band is their breeding ground, a contrast that gives contour to their freedom of colour. In the places where the red releases them onto glass, we see the world behind them. It is not the colourfulness applied by Regina Kochs that defines the line, no, the present, the actual being of the street fits into the gaps and openings of the cut-outs, subordinates itself to the non-existent. The artist also dispenses with a fixed viewpoint. Inside and outside are of equal value, overlapping and inviting the viewer to enter the picture himself.’ Realisation 2011
