Run of the Rhine
The sculpture "Rheinlauf" represents the Rhine-Hessian part of the Rhine and implies an image of the entire Rhine-Hessian landscape. With this simple, clear form...
...an inviting gesture is created in the new Rheinhessenhalle, an address-forming opportunity for identification and at the same time a clear reference to the entire region. The seemingly free form is clearly recognisable to those in the know as a Rhine-Hessian part of the Rhine and can arouse the curiosity of strangers. In front of the strictly vertical, pearl-beige façade with predominantly vertical lines, the free form of the sculpture with its significant turquoise-blue colour forms a contrasting addition. The shape is striking and, thanks to its inclination, also delicate, creating an impression of lightness despite its large dimensions. The lower part of the approx. 6 metre high steel work is constructed as a box section for structural reasons and tapers upwards to form a double T-beam. At night, the line of the course of the Rhine is emphasised: With a continuous LED light strip running along the footbridge - like a finger pointing - the sculpture invites visitors to the main entrance.
