Two-sided façade painting with calm order and clearing chaos. The design idea is based on the work of the fire brigade: which requires clear order in the face of situational unpredictability and disciplined calm in the face of chaos that…
…can be quickly spotted. The façade painting consists of two parts: Order, structure, calm and repetition are depicted in the entrance area, while the side gable wall shows the chaos that needs to be cleared. A yellow line is stacked on a blue background at the entrance. Just as all the equipment in the fire engine is precisely organised and every last space is filled, the line fills the entire width of the wall like a neatly stacked hose. It symbolises order, structure and calm concentration in the fire station. Parallel to the road, the ‘stack of hoses’ takes up the horizontal movements of the road. The entire light blue accentuated entrance area refers to water as an extinguishing agent and invites people into the building with its friendly, bright colours. A small hose end on the street façade points to the gable wall. A playful approach to the theme of chaos unfolds here. A free movement is drawn with a series of slightly nuanced coloured hoses. It represents the daily challenge of the firefighters to quickly sift through sometimes chaotic situations. It also shows the team spirit, as many hose sections are strung together to form a whole, just as work can only be successful hand in hand. Realisation 2014
