supports grow
Eight coloured, open steel tubes extend the pillars of the schoolyard, a symbol of successful school: support for individual growth. School is a broad field on different pillars. It offers young people stability through...
...diverse learning pathways and educational opportunities. Every student has different opportunities to use this support. They can grow (beyond themselves), develop and unfold their own personality. In this sense, the connecting and open canopy that encompasses the schoolyard is understood as a symbol of support and stability. The idea is realised through eight open steel tubes. They extend the concrete columns in their own form and appearance and show themselves with individual direction and length. Together, the support and the tube convey a steadfastness, a striving, a growing. Two views also address the spatial situation: Towards the car park, red lines are visible from afar. The height and colouring create an eye-catcher visible from afar and a clear marking of the entrance. Towards the schoolyard, the pipes open up to the student body. The "interior" shows friendly colours combined with pairs of terms. Here, lettering is laser-cut from sheet steel and mounted on the concrete supports or in the pipe opening. They break down developmental psychological insights (Erikson) understandably to the living and learning world of young people. The further development of the architectural elements unmistakably connects the artwork with the specific location. The use of light in the dark also ensures this long-distance effect. Combined with the content-related statement and the two complementary views, the sculpture "growing with support" creates a possibility of identification for teachers and learners. Realisation 2022
