Play of colours
The "Noah's Ark" daycare centre sees itself as an ark that offers a protected space. Like a cushioning fender, the sculpture in the colours of the sheltering rainbow lies over the regling of the daycare centre. The art was to be...
...positioned up here on the parapet. In order to achieve an effect in the street space and reduce the height of perception, the sculptural work was developed to create a reference to the pavement through light. The form develops from many parts. This creates a whole. A large number of individual spheres combine to form a ring. This symbolises wholeness, including inclusion and containment. The colourfulness of the ring combines the multitude of rainbow colours in colour gradations. Individually legible and yet firmly connected. The section of the circle has been chosen to show the colours of the four daycare groups in the foreground. The sculpture is constructed from 17 steel spheres (Ø 300mm) which are attached to a ring-shaped tube. The lighting effect is achieved by 10 spheres with internal power LEDs. They shine in the respective colour of the sphere along the wall or onto the pavement. Despite the spatial height, this gives the children an almost tangible connection to the art and allows them to shower in the light. Realisation 2022
