... in growing rings
In the centrepiece of the school, the ceiling becomes an image carrier. The colourful metal installation in the foyer connects all partial surfaces to form a large, continuous circular drawing. The art contribution "... in growing rings" artistically expresses the energies of the diverse encounters, the growing togetherness and the sporting movements of everyday school life on the ceiling of the foyer. The installation creates...
...a connection to the neighbouring rooms and refers to the sports hall floor directly above. The ceiling of the foyer is thus both "roof" and "floor" at the same time. Like a "translucent" floor to the sports hall, circles quote the markings of the hall floor. In addition, the circular shape is chosen because it represents a self-contained, focussed form and at the same time the overlapping of the circles creates a sense of togetherness. The variety of colours chosen underlines the colourful, diverse and tolerant togetherness. Many different aspects of school life can be read in the circles at this location: These include coming together, gathering and being connected with one another. Symbolically, the circle can also stand for encircling aspects of school life, focussing them, collecting thoughts concentrically, as it were. In Rilke's words: "I live my life in growing rings that stretch across things..." The spaces between the visible concrete also harbour aspects of searching and finding and bear witness to the complexity of our lives. The installation is made of colourfully printed and milled sheet metal and mounted between the acoustic panels at a distance below the ceiling. The unifying effect of the circular drawing is architecturally important: the entire foyer ceiling appears as a generous, whole and widened surface through the acoustic panels. Only through one's own movement do the circles come together in the mind as a whole. The art-in-architecture contribution "... in growing rings" emphasises the foyer as the centrepiece and highlights its central importance. The lively togetherness of the entire school community thus finds a colourful expression. Realisation 2023
